About SSI

Established as a Foundation of the University of Sydney in 1985, Save Sight Institute is a not-for-profit organisation working with government and community to save sight. It incorporates the University of Sydney Discipline of Clinical Ophthalmology, Lions NSW Eye Bank, Foresight Australia and Sight for Life Foundation.
Save Sight Institute has grown to be one of the top three ophthalmic research institutes in Australia. It is internationally recognised as a centre of innovative research into ophthalmology and as a centre of excellence for clinical research, learning and teaching.
In 2010 following an organisational restructure at the University, SSI became a complying centre of the University and the Save Sight Foundation was established with the charter of overseeing the finances of SSI and donations for vision research conducted at SSI.
Save Sight Institute boasts some of Australia's most pre-eminent researchers and clinicians, internationally renowned for their expertise.
